How do I connect a telephone in another room?
There are two methods: purchase a portable (wireless) telephone or install cable to the room to create another extension. If you have a wired network cabling installed the Internet can use this medium too.

How do I get broadband in another room? The quickest way is to use a wireless router which transmits the broadband signal through the air to be picked up my appropriately equipped devices such as a laptop or personal computer. These wireless networks can be security enabled to prevent access by others.
A more reliable method is to install Cat5 cabling to the room or, indeed, throughout the property. This cannot be retro-fitted. However, it does allow for a more stable connection over wireless as it is not affected by ambient interference as the cabling is shielded. It is also less prone to security attackes.
Ethernet ports can be installed in several places in a room and can also carry other types of media including audio and video signals. Telecoms, Communication, Internet, Broadband | TOP
Should I have wired or wireless broadband in my home?
We would recommend a wired network over a wireless one as cabled networks are not subject to certain interferences caused by other household appliances and even insulation. Wired networks (consisting of Cat5 standard cabling) can also carry other media like audio and HD video. This is achievable with a wireless network but for video the industry is only starting to grow and is not as cost effective.
If you are planning a new build or refurbishment, or wish to carry other media around the house, then consider a wired solution. Telecoms, Communication, Internet, Broadband (Wireless) | TOP
